Gold Coast Represented at AIME 2009 | 13 February 2009

MEDIA RELEASE Friday 13 February, 2009

GOLD COAST REPRESENTED AT INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS EVENTS EXPO

The Gold Coast will be heavily represented at Australasia’s biggest annual corporate events exhibition during next week’s Asia -Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) to be held in Melbourne 17 to 18 February.

Twenty-seven local products, including two first-time businesses, Dracula’s Cabaret Restaurant and JPT Tours will be in attendance which shows how serious Gold Coast operators are about attracting business events into the region.

These operators, in partnership with Gold Coast Tourism, will showcase some of the major assets of the region that culminate to make the City the perfect option for domestic and international corporate planners looking to secure an appropriate venue for their next conference or incentive program.

“Hosting of business events is worth an estimated $504 million dollars to the City and the intention is to grow this even further through our involvement at AIME,” said GCT CEO Martin Winter.

“Behind the scenes we’ve been plotting a major strategy to encourage growth and develop the world-wide reputation of the Gold Coast to host future major business events and this will be outlined during the course of AIME.

“There will be 850 exhibitors representing 50 countries at AIME so it’s imperative the Gold Coast is able to showcase all its wares in front of a captive corporate buying audience.”

Strengthened by the Gold Coast’s ongoing status as a world leisure activity leader, Gold Coast Tourism in conjunction with local business continues to strive towards packaging the most comprehensive experiences into all meeting, incentive, convention and exhibition stays.

With guaranteed exclusive access to some of the most hospitable and welcoming venues, plus a complete experiential package to suit any budget or delegate style, confirms the Gold Coast as a destination to be seriously considered by all event planners.

Australia’s Gold Coast has matured as one of the most cost effective, enjoyable, and accessible destinations from which to coordinate productive business event activity throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Traditionally celebrated by holiday makers for its spectacular natural environments and variety of man made attractions, the Gold Coast’s leisure assets are now key drivers in the city’s popularity with event planners seeking a multidimensional business event experience.

As a matter of course, the infrastructure and professional support services of the region are the equal of any other city in the world, however the Gold Coast is in rare company when it comes to the overall experience provided.
