Gold Coast Unaffected by Tropical Cyclone Yasi
| 1 February 2011
Gold Coast Tourism can advise our valued partners that the Gold Coast is unaffected by Tropical Cyclone Yasi.
The Gold Coast is approximately 1,500 kilometres from the tropical north Queensland coast where Tropical Cyclone Yasi is predicted to make landfall.
Gold Coast businesses, attractions, beaches, flights, roads, transport, and services are all running as usual and the Gold Coast is as ready as ever to welcome visitors.
The current Bureau of Meteorology five day forecast for the Gold Coast is ‘mostly fine’ with temperatures between 22 and 30 degrees Celsius.
To manage public enquiries and clarify possible misunderstandings about the affect of Tropical Cyclone Yasi on travel to the Gold Coast, Gold Coast Tourism is providing regular updates, answering questions, and posting photos on our Facebook profile - http://www.facebook.com/VisitGoldCoast.
Please feel free to use this service and refer clients or colleagues to do the same.
And as we have previously informed, the Gold Coast was also unaffected by the recent Queensland floods so there is no reason to postpone or cancel travel to the Gold Coast.
Our valued partners can continue to promote and sell the Gold Coast with absolute confidence, knowing that all the famous attractions and activities are unaffected by Tropical Cyclone Yasi and ready for business.
